;)Anyone familiar with Heritage modular Homes? I own a 1983 version and need to know where serial number might be. Have been told company is now out of business.

    Hi David,

I'm not sure if maybe you worked with a different Heritage Modular Homes, but there's a builder I know of in Massachusetts that goes by Heritage that was building in the 1980's. You can see their website here: http://www.heritagemodularhomes.com/index.htm or call them at (508) 754-9322!

    Hope this helps!

    David,

Following up on this some more after doing some more digging. So every modular home will have a serial number, but it won't be "stamped" on it like you might imagine for a product you buy in the store, or on piece of metal on the outside of your home like a mobile/manufactured home. It is generally printed on the data plate - which is again a bit of a misnomer since it's actually a 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper that's often laminated and stuck to one of several places. Every manufacturer puts it in a different place, but some common areas to put a data plate are:
    • Inside kitchen cabinets. Most likely in the area under your sink.
    • Inside a closet. Either in a main hall closet or in the closet in the master bedroom.
    • In the electrical panel box. This is less common nowadays, but since your home was built in the 80's, this is a good place to check.
    • Pretty much anywhere else. I know of one manufacturer that hid it rolled up in the railing of a staircase
Let us know where you find it!
