    Hello everyone,

So my Fiancee and I are looking to buy some land and build a modular home. We're currently looking for land and visited a few dealers in the area. My question is, which route do we go? So far, from what I'm seeing we have a few options. Redman/Champion homes, Ritz Craft, Professional Builiding Sytems (PBS) and I believe Express (haven't found a local shop that builds these but hearing they're in the area.

Can you give me some insight on these companies, your thoughts, experience and or suggestions?

    Thanks for your time

    Hi G9803,

So first of all, good for you for pursuing multiple different options! All of the companies you mentioned are reputable modular home manufacturers, though Champion homes does also build manufactured/mobile/HUD homes as well, so if you go through them, make sure they know you want a true modular home.

As far as quality goes, all of these manufacturers create good homes, but the finished product depends greatly on the local builder as well.

If you don’t have a strong preference for one manufacturer over another, I would highly recommend talking with local builders to see who you would like working with. Many builders work exclusively with one or two manufacturers, so that decision may be easier to make if you decide you want to work with one specific builder.

Like you did with the manufacturer hunt, you want to talk with multiple modular builders to see who you want to work with.

Read up here for more information on picking the right builder for your home.
