House Warming Gift Ideas

With the nice weather upon us, home improvements and home renovations are in the full effect. This time of year is also very popular for those who are buying a new home or relocating and moving. Personally, I have 2 house warming parties coming up! …Which leads me to the question, what are the best house warming gifts?

If you know friends or family who are moving into a new home, you want to do something special for them. A new home is a milestone; it means new memories in the making. I always like to bring a homemade house warming gift to the proud new home owners. If you’re clueless about what to give as a house warming gift, here are some cute ideas:

  • Make a rug! Not only is this rug super cute (and looks very comfy to curl up on!) but it would be an affordable and thoughtful gift to give to your new home owners.
  • A collection of beautifully colored, hand painted vases make the perfect house warming gift! Sadly, this page is all in Spanish, but I think you get the idea. …Find out what color schemes the homeowners are planning to use and paint accordingly! (And as an added bonus, fill the vases with beautiful house warming flowers!)
  • These DIY lace candle votives are gorgeous! These might be for the more experienced crafter, but would still make a fun project for just about anyone! How pretty would these look on a mantel or table setting?
  • With color playing a huge part in todays home décor, why not try making these neon dipped planting pots for your house warming party? These are sure to make your host and hostess smile. (You can even fill them with indoor house plants that improve air quality 😉

For those of you who have no artistic and/or creative bone in your body (or you’re just really busy, haha) store bought house warming gifts are perfectly acceptable, too! One of my favorite stores to buy that special something is Pier 1; their house warming gift section always seems to have the right item for my hostess! Pottery Barn, while they tend to be a little on the expensive side, do have really cute host and hostess gifts as well!

For all of you thrifty shoppers out there, I always recommend snatching up those cute home items when they’re on sale; even if you don’t have any specific event to buy for, you should never pass up a good price! Marshall’s Home Goods and TJMaxx always have unique finds and they always seem to be on sale!

For you crafty folk, I recommend never paying full price for your art and craft supplies; places like Michaels are always have 20%-40% off coupons. Sign up for their newsletters and stock up on supplies when they’re cheap!

What are some of your favorite house warming gifts for the host and hostess? Don’t forget to share your ideas! Have a great weekend everyone!
